ANAHEIM, Calif., April 19, 2007—Pacific Contours Corporation, which specializes in complex machining and assembly of high-demand products for the aerospace industry, today announced that it has received the prestigious Boeing Supplier of the Year award in the Diversity/Boeing Protégé category. “We are pleased to recognize the achievements of these 11 suppliers for reaching extraordinary levels of performance and quality, and becoming the best in the Boeing supply chain,” said master of ceremonies Steve Schaffer, functional leader of Supplier Management for Boeing and vice president and general manager of Global Partners, Boeing Commercial Airplanes. “Boeing’s ongoing commitment to working together with our partners helps us meet the high standards for quality, productivity and efficiency that our customers deserve and our competitive business environment demands.” A supplier to Boeing for more than nine years, Pacific Contours manufactures bulkheads, escape hatches, jettison cockpit doors, and upper and lower cabin doors for the CH-47 program. Other Boeing programs the company supports include C-17, F-22, Airborne Early Warning & Control, B-1B, and AH-64. “This award comes as a pleasant surprise . It validates the hard work that the employees at Pacific Contours have continued to do through our 10 years in business. The companies named 2006 Boeing Suppliers of the Year were selected from a field of more than 27,000 Boeing suppliers in nearly 100 countries. Awards were presented in 11 categories: Avionics, Electronics/Hydraulic/Mechanical, Major Structures, Purchased Outside Production, Common Aerospace Commodities, Aerospace Support, Non-Production/Shared Service Group, Technology, Diversity/Small Woman Business Enterprise, Diversity/Small Minority Business Enterprise, Diversity/Boeing Protégé. The winning suppliers were chosen on the basis of statistical measurements of quality, on-time delivery, post-delivery support and cost during a 12-month period up to September 2006. They also were evaluated on their ability to anticipate and respond to changing customer requirements. In collaboration with California State University, Boeing and Pacific Contours participate in a mentor-protégé program to provide technology training for employees of Pacific Contours. Designed to augment the skills of craftsman machinists, the program acknowledges that computer technology in manufacturing equipment demands upgraded skills for even the most accomplished machinist. An internship for CSU students offers such opportunities as providing computer training to Pacific Contours employees and helping to revamp the company’s Web site. In the past year, Pacific Contours has doubled the number of its employees, increased its physical space and added equipment capacity in order to support Boeing’s growing business needs.
